About

Hi! My name is Alexa, I am the founder/owner of Rae Metals. Why did I start Rae Metals? I started Rae Metals because I was lost in what path to follow for my career. I thought I wanted to be an Architect or even an Electrician. I happened to enroll in a metalsmithing class at my community college. In the class, we worked with brass and copper, but I started to venture into sterling silver. I loved it! To me, the style of silver and working with it was much different than that of brass or copper. I started collecting tools at home and working for hours on pieces in my basement. Again, being lost in my schooling/career path, this new hobby became a constant thought for me. Silversmithing has become a passion of mine, and I love creating new things each time I sit at my bench. 

A little bit about me… I live in the metro Detroit area and have dreams of moving out west to NW Montana. I am currently pursuing a career as an Aircraft Technician and will be A&P certified in February 2028. During the summer, I work at a golf course as a bartender, and during the winter months is when I focus on silversmithing. I enjoy being outside, whether that be on the golf course, going out for a run, or even hunting during the fall months.
